Water Towers can come in
all sizes
and shapes. Most are 1 to 4 stories high. In the area where I
live, Mendocino,
CA, most are 2 and 3 story towers.
I've developed sets of Engineering and Architectural Plans for some common designs. Some of the plans are structural skeletal framework and others are enclosed. They are easily capable of supporting water tanks of varying sizes, up to 5,000 gal. We can also do Custom Designed Towers and variations of the standard designs. Since these plans are standardized I can sell them at very reasonable costs, much less than starting from scratch. You can use our components and Design Your Own Tower. You pick the skeletal form, type of handrails, siding materials, sizes, doors, windows, stairs and look of your tower. You can also add a wing to the sides, either Hip or Shed Roof. |
| These basic plans are earthquake designed to resist seismic zone 4 requirements, the most stringent. They are designed to account for the 2 extremes of an open tower with a full tank during an earthquake and an enclosed tower with no tank during an 80 mph wind storm. They are designed to set on suitable foundations, relatively level and providing at least 1000 psf pressure from dead plus live loads. The towers are designed for residential loading at each level and may be enclosed and have additions off of each side. They can also accommodate other uses. Stairs, handrails, side additions and floors can all be added. |
If you enclose the structure you may have to meet local building and planning codes, energy conservation standards, fire requirements, ADA access, waterproof and provide stairs and handrails. | Custom Tower designs usually cost between $1,500 to $30,000. Our Pre Designed Plans vary between $250 to $1000 and are available very quickly!. You'll save thousands of dollars and weeks or months of time by using the pre designed plans. We can also do Custom Designed Towers to your specific requirements. Tall is Cool |
The pre designed plans can easily be adapted to the custom requirements mentioned above. Since I am both Architect & Structural Engineer, we can help you customize the design of your water tower to your specific needs and wishes. You can add 1 or 2 story wings off each side, add stairways, windows, doors, change sidings, add bathrooms, kitchens or what ever you want. You may add handrails on the top platform and roof it. You may add intermediate floor levels and walls at any level. Customized work and modifications are done on an hourly basis of $150/hr. |
