I believe this was at one time an old tower.  Over the years it has been modified considerably and is now a living space.  Note the large windows fitting between the braces and the exterior plates.  It is a tall 2 story enclosed tower with a hip roof.  You can find this tower at the east end of Albion St. in Mendocino, CA.
